How Do You Choose A Genset?

First of all, to choose the genset you should calculate how much power you need. To do so, you have to sum up the power of all your appliances. The aim of a genset is to mantain the energy supply.

Genset with AC power supply:

A genset depends on the rpm of the accelerator, which means that it uses the maximum fuel level all the time. This is considered as a problem, because generating the desired frequency (60Hz) and transfering it to the different electronic devices of 120 VAC is something that needs to be done without losing efficiency.

Some of them can even stop working, if 60 Hz are not available. Even if 120 VAC and 60 Hz are produced, it will not be enough for many electronic components thought to operate on more than 50 % of efficiency. Generally, they are large when they work only to satisfy charge requirements, because they are going to create addicional noise and leaks.

Genset with DC power supply:

    • They are a good solution for the noise, fuel consumption and production.
    • Genset with DC power supply are rare, because they are new. They can be found in specific engines corresponding to DC production (voltage -12, 24, 36, 48, current intensity -90, 180, 200, 220, 330, etc.).
    • When using a 120 VDC well desiged genset, its acceleration can be adjusted to the power, depending on the charge or the user necessities.
    • There are just a few gensets with DC power supply. Once you have read all the information, you will be able to decide which type of generator is the best for you, its requirements and necessities.
